Career Day Presentations

As part of our community education outreach, we offer Museum Professional Presentations for students.

Our team members provide enriching, interactive dialogue, a colorful digital presentation, hands on pottery examples and studio items for all students to experience, plus fun games for younger groups. They also inform the students and staff about ways to interact with our museum, including how to schedule future field trips (guided tours & pottery demonstrations) at the center.

Any school or educational professional interested in someone from our team attending a career day to give a presentation should reach out with a scheduling request with a minimum of 30 days in advance.

Send all requests/inquires to education@ncpotterycenter.org and please include the following:

  • School Name

  • Location

  • Grade level(s)

  • Date

  • Start and End Times

  • Rotation time

  • Any specific requirements to be met during each presentation

We look forward to hearing from you and sharing our profession with you all!

North Moore Family Resource Center After School Program

The NC Pottery Center is proud to provide quality ceramics instruction at the After School Program for the Northern Moore Family Resource Center in Robbins, NC. Community outreach is an important part of Educational Programs at NCPC and we are happy to coordinate the clay activities.

This program partnership serves local elementary schools that are connected with NMFRC. There are three after school sessions offered per school year and two separate age groups that participate in each session.

Reese Nguyen is the acting ceramics instructor for the after school program. She received her BA in Studio Art and Mathematics from Queens University of Charlotte. Reese is a multimedia artist working in woodblock printmaking, painting, and ceramics.

She was the 2024-25 Clay making intern at Starworks where she developed her skills and knowledge as a woodfire potter. Reese is presently working as Anne Partna's assistant/apprentice at Blue Hen Pottery in Seagrove.

My work explores the relationships between a pot and their function, and the pot and the user. The surface design challenges users with notions of what is functional, forcing them to examine how to hold it. Ultimately, it reveals the optimal and “safe” way to hold it, encouraging the user to become more intentional about how it could be touched.” - Reese Nguyen
