Fruitapalooza

April 18 - June 20, 2026

Each year the NC Pottery Center partners with the East Carolina University Ceramics Guild to curate an exhibit featuring wares from present and past students who choose a theme to showcase their skills. This year the chosen theme is Fruitapalooza: The Abundance of Fruit.

The East Carolina University Ceramics Guild fosters hands-on learning and creative growth through exhibitions, workshops, travel, and student-led sales. By raising funds throughout the academic year, the Guild supports its members in pursuing professional opportunities, including attending conferences and participating in summer residencies.

Fruitapolooza celebrates the enduring symbolism of fruit in art and culture. Historically, fruit has represented wealth, fertility, and abundance, from medieval holiday traditions to the opulent pineapple displays of the 18th century and, later, the refined wax fruit arrangements of the Victorian era. In this exhibition, students reinterpret these traditions through contemporary ceramic forms.

The works on view explore vessels and objects inspired by fruit, inviting us to reconsider its visual and cultural significance. Through their creativity, these artists offer fresh perspectives that bring both vitality and meaning into our shared spaces.
